Practical Self-Defense Techniques
There is a misconception in martial arts that Budokan karate Academy offers little value in a real life and death situation. Technical knowledge or the latest combat fad cannot alone determine the outcome of a life-threatening situation; several other factors must be considered:
- The ability of the person to identify a potential life-threatening situation;
- The ability of the person to defuse it;
- The ability of the person to act decisively, e.g., run away, move to a safer location, strike without hesitation, etc.;
- The ability of the person to handle more than one attacker.
Good fighting capability, unfazed presence of mind and the ability to recognize warning signs increase one’s chances of survival in a dangerous situation.
